With the Alberta provincial election in full swing, the RMA is ready!
As part of an ongoing effort to highlight the importance of rural Alberta during the provincial election, the RMA has developed the “Rural Alberta: Where it All Starts” campaign and website.
The website features videos and resources for both members and candidates. We encourage RMA members to use these resources and share these videos with local candidates and other community organizations.
This week, the RMA staff team is sending packages to each and every candidate running for provincial office. Our goal is to have every candidate knowledgeable of the RMA, Alberta’s rural municipalities, and the issues most important to rural Alberta so that the next government can tackle these issues head-on.
The RMA is focusing on five priority issues for this election:
- The importance of rural
- Long-term, predictable municipal funding
- Intermunicipal collaboration
- Infrastructure and transportation
- Environmental stewardship

As part of the ”Where it All Starts” campaign, the RMA also recently published an op-ed in the Edmonton Journal.
