The Rural Municipalities of Alberta is an independent association comprised of Alberta’s 64 incorporated municipal districts and counties, four incorporated specialized municipalities, and the Special Areas Board. As per RMA’s bylaws, there are two types of membership within the association.
Full members are the 69 counties and municipal districts (see the map below). Full members can submit and vote on resolutions, participate in board elections, access advocacy services, and utilize business services programs.
Associate members are public sector and not-for-profit organizations such as healthcare providers, museums, school boards and educational institutions, electrification associations, airport authorities, seniors housing associations, and others. Associate members can utilize the RMA Insurance program as well as leverage cooperative procurement programs through the Canoe Procurement Group of Canada.
