The virtual event provided participants with a detailed overview of the Government of Alberta’s study of a possible provincial police force

On February 17, RMA and AUMA co-hosted a President’s Summit on Provincial Policing focusing on the study of a provincial police service in Alberta. The session featured the following speakers (click on the organization’s name to view their presentation):

  • Government of Alberta
    • The Honourable Kaycee Madu, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General
    • Douglas Morgan, Project Principal, Alberta Provincial Police Service Transition Study (Alberta Justice and Solicitor General)
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police (not yet received – RMA will share with members when available)
    • Curtis Zablocki, Commanding Officer, “K” Division

A recording of the full summit is available on the RMA YouTube channel.

In addition to the presentations, the National Police Federation has provided RMA and AUMA with a document providing written answers to participant questions that were not answered live during the summit. RMA and AUMA are awaiting similar documents from the Government of Alberta and RCMP and will share with members when they are received.
