Three Emergent Resolutions Added to Spring 2024 Order Paper

To this point, the RMA has received two emergent resolutions for the Spring 2024 Resolutions Session. The RMA’s Resolutions Committee has determined that the submitted resolutions meet the criteria for emergent resolutions, as outlined in section E of the RMA’s Resolutions Process Policy. As a result, the resolutions have been added to the Order Paper and will be debated at the upcoming RMA convention:

ER1-24S Government Support for Physician Assistants (County of Warner)
ER2-24S Municipal Taxes Misrepresented as Municipal Franchise Fees (Leduc County)
ER3-24S Opposition to Federal Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate (County of Newell)

In addition to viewing the resolutions on the resolutions database, they will also be available on the RMA convention app, and hard copies will be circulated on convention tables prior to the resolutions session.

The RMA’s Resolution Process policy defines an emergent resolution as a resolution submitted to the RMA after the resolution deadline – February 12, 2024 for the 2024 Spring Convention – that addresses a subject or problem that has arisen subsequent to the resolution deadline.

There is still time to submit additional emergent resolutions for consideration by the Resolutions Committee. Emergent resolutions must be submitted prior to 3:00 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024. Any resolutions not received by this deadline will not be reviewed by the Resolutions Committee.

Emergent resolutions, along with an accompanying letter explaining why the resolution should meet the emergent resolutions criteria, must be submitted in Microsoft Word format to RMA General Manager of Policy & Advocacy, Wyatt Skovron at wyatt@RMAlberta.com.
