Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation is seeking input on how to prioritize agriculture when considering renewable energy development
Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation is consulting with stakeholders regarding new policies to prioritize agriculture with respect to renewable energy development. This survey is an opportunity to provide perspectives and feedback on challenges and opportunities around developing renewable energy on agricultural land. The responses gathered from this survey will help Agriculture and Irrigation refine tools and criteria to assess the suitability of agricultural land for renewable energy development while ensuring agricultural land remains available for food production now and in the future.
A recording of the webinar hosted by Agriculture and Irrigation is available online, and contains additional information regarding the consultation. The survey is now available and will close on August 14.
The RMA is planning to provide written comments to Agriculture and Irrigation, however, members are encouraged to provide their own input to share local perspectives.
