Survey seeks municipalities’ local approach to the public consumption of cannabis
The Government of Alberta is seeking information from municipalities on their local approaches to managing the public consumption of cannabis.
RMA has a resolution calling for the Government of Alberta to align consumption of cannabis regulations with liquor consumption. Currently, municipalities can set the rules for consumption of cannabis, which can lead to enforcement challenges as rules change across jurisdictions. Enforcement issues are expected to be complicated by the legalization of edibles, which are likely to begin being sold in Alberta in January 2020.
The survey can be completed by clicking here. The deadline to complete the survey is January 7, 2020. Questions about the survey should be directed to Damian.Coneghan@gov.ab.ca.
