The AAMDC takes pride in representing the rural municipal perspective to provincial and federal decision-makers, industry, and other stakeholders.
As part of our advocacy efforts, the AAMDC regularly develops and updates a series of position statements that summarize the AAMDC’s positions on key policy areas. These position statements are updated to reflect emerging issues and new resolutions and approved by the AAMDC Board of Directors twice each year. The summer 2016 position statements are now available on the AAMDC website. The AAMDC expects to conduct an in-depth review and update of position statements when the Government of Alberta finalized the new Modernized Municipal Government Act and associated regulations.
Position statements are divided into the following themes:

The AAMDC encourages all members to review the updated position statements and use them as a resource in local advocacy efforts. If more detail is needed on a certain issue, please search for related resolutions on the AAMDC’s Resolution Database. Also feel free to contact the policy analyst listed in each position statement category to discuss issues in more detail.
