The RMA Spring 2019 Convention & Trade Show will take place scheduled for March 18 – 20, 2019 at the Edmonton Convention Centre. For convention agenda information, click here.
Trade Show
The trade show will kick things off on Monday, March 18 with over 150 exhibitors featuring RMA approved suppliers, and a variety of other companies and organizations. RMA will have staff on hand to showcase RMA Trade, RMA Insurance, RMA Fuel, and our External Relations and Advocacy Department.
Convention Program
The convention program is packed on Tuesday, March 19 with keynote speaker Ryan Hreljac and plenary addresses from the Minister of Municipal Affairs, RMA’s Business Services, the RMA Charitable Gaming Committee, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and the Rural Health Professions Action Plan. The Conference Board of Canada will also present on Alberta’s Economic Outlook and will join the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers for a panel discussion on the Future of Energy, both globally and in Alberta. An abbreviated Ministerial Forum is also scheduled to provide opportunity for members to ask pressing questions impacting rural Alberta.
Tuesday will wrap up with workshops, including:
- Building Healthy Rural Communities: Recruiting and Retaining Health Professionals
- From Trash to Treasure: Recycling in Alberta
- Collaboration and Technology: Taking an Active Role in Reducing Crime
This year’s convention on Wednesday, March 21 will host keynote speaker, Vivian Krause, kicking off the day and a plenary address from ALUS Canada. Wednesday’s workshops include:
- Alberta’s Ombudsman: Exploring the Relationship Between the Ombudsman and Municipalities
- Going with the Flow: Wetlands and Water
- Understanding Unpaid Linear Property Taxes
Convention will wrap up with the resolutions session, and our board highlighting the RMA’s Election Strategy before sending delegates on their way.
Social & Networking Events
There are a number of RMA sanctioned social events taking place during convention that provide valuable networking opportunities for convention delegates. On Monday, March 18, visit the RMA Business Services Open House to network with approved suppliers, and be sure to stop by the Brownlee LLP hospitality suite. On Tuesday, March 20, visit the WSP social evening, and FortisAlberta’s hospitality suite.
