The survey results will be used by the Government of Alberta to help shape the Local Government Fiscal Framework
On May 16, Municipal Affairs launched the engagement for the program design of the Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF), which will replace the Municipal Sustainability Initiative
as the province’s primary municipal capital grant program beginning in the 2024 - 2025 fiscal year.
An email was sent to all Chief Elected Officials and Chief Administrative Officers containing a link to a survey on the program design. This survey comprises one of the critical components of the engagement with local governments. The information gathered through this survey, as well as regular meetings between Municipal Affairs and the municipal associations, will help inform the development of the details for the LGFF.
Council and administration are encouraged to work together to complete this survey. Collaboration on the survey will help ensure a range of considerations are gathered from each municipality and to limit submissions to one response per municipality.
