Registration Open for Virtual EOEP Finance Course

The course builds on foundations learned in Munis 101

The Elected Officials Education Program (EOEP) is excited to announce a virtual offering of Municipal Corporate Planning and Finance. Understanding municipal finances is fundamental to the job of an elected official. Municipal councils are expected to plan, govern, and set policy for the best interests of their community. Sound financial planning and management is key to supporting a healthy municipality that can ensure that its current and future service commitments are funded in a sustainable manner.

It is important that elected officials understand how financial planning and monitoring align with the municipality’s business cycle, including strategic planning, business planning, and performance measurement.  Elected officials need to understand their role in establishing and prioritizing competing service level demands on behalf of citizens and then determine strategies to fund those service level commitments.

This course will be held Wednesday evenings over four sessions:

  • February 16, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
  • February 23, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
  • March 2, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
  • March 9, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Registration is now open at a cost of $275 per participant. While we encourage councils to take this training together, please note that each participant will need their own registration and computer or electronic device to participate.

As a reminder, completing all seven EOEP courses will allow councillors to earn a Municipal Elected Leaders Certificate.
