The Government of Alberta recently established the Energy Efficiency Advisory Panel to help launch energy efficiency and small-scale renewables programs in the province. The Panel’s mandate includes speaking with Albertans, Indigenous communities, local governments, and stakeholders to determine the types of programs that a new provincial agency, Energy Efficiency Alberta, can deliver in the short- and medium-terms. The focus will be on programs and opportunities for consumers, businesses and communities. The Panel will provide its recommendations on new programs in its report to the Minister later this fall and it is anticipated that the agency will be in place early in 2017.
On behalf of the Energy Efficiency Advisory Panel, the Government of Alberta is inviting municipal representatives to an engagement session to gather input on the role of municipalities and rural communities in energy efficiency and small-scale renewables. Ideas shared will help inform the Panel’s recommendations to the Minister.
Please note that engagement is broken into two days, but participants are encouraged to participate in both days of discussion.
