Government Liaisons will engage with communities to develop recommendation to Government of Alberta
The Government of Alberta appointed the first-ever Hate Crimes Community Liaisons in Alberta on May 25, 2022. The liaisons will work directly with the communities most targeted by hate crimes and incidents, building towards recommendations for the Alberta government to develop and implement a coordinated and comprehensive strategy. This strategy will help address and work toward preventing these occurrences and best support people victimized by hate crimes and incidents.
The liaisons are looking to begin fulsome community engagement to support the development of recommendations to prevent and respond to hate crimes and incidents in Alberta while supporting people victimized by these acts. These sessions will be conducted in-person in different communities across the province and will run for approximately 2.5 hours. They will be comprised of both small and large group discussions where participants will get a chance to share experiences and professional insights regarding hate crimes and share recommendations for the prevention, intervention, and suppression of hate crime and incidents.
See the table below for available sessions, including details on how to register.
