The Government of Alberta is currently seeking input from stakeholders to inform a review of the Victims of Crime Financial Benefits Program (VCFBP). The consultation supports a commitment in the UCP election platform.
The intent of the review is to inform the replacement of the VCFBP with a new “Alberta Victim Assistance” program, which will effectively provide victims with the services and supports they need, when they need them. According to the Government of Alberta, part of the intent of the transition is to move from a focus on financial assistance for victims of crime to a more “service-oriented” system.
The Government of Alberta is seeking input from stakeholders through completion of a survey or through written comments. The deadline for input is January 3, 2020.
The survey can be accessed by clicking here.
Written comments, or any questions about the consultation process, can be submitted to JSG.PSDEngagement@gov.ab.ca.
