The Government of Alberta is requesting municipal input on Bill 16, The Traffic Safety Amendment Act
. The primary purpose of Bill 16 is to establish regulations related to Transportation Network Companies (TNCs). TNCs are more commonly referred to as ride-sharing services.
The proposed regulations will:
- Define “transportation network company” and related terms
- Establish the requirements all TNCs operating in Alberta must meet
- Detail how these requirements will be verified and the role of investigations
Input can be provided by sending written submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
. Unfortunately, the timeline for submissions as short, as feedback will only be accepted until May 24
. For an overview of Bill 16 and questions to consider when submitting feedback, see the attached issues paper provided by Alberta Transportation.
