Alberta Health is seeking feedback on where in-person engagement sessions should be held across the province to discuss the health care restructuring
Alberta Health recently announced that Alberta Health Services will be going through a major restructuring to better deliver quality care across the province. As such, the Government of Alberta has committed to engaging with both healthcare workers and all Albertans to get a better sense of the needs throughout the province.
There will be up to 30 in-person engagement sessions hosted throughout the province starting in January 2024. These sessions will give Albertans the opportunity to give insights into the successes, challenges, and strengths of the current health care system.
To better understand where to host the in-person engagement sessions, the Government of Alberta is inviting Albertans to complete an expression of interest form (Update: This form has now closed) to host an in-person session in their community.
The RMA encourages all members to request that an engagement session be held in their area to ensure rural perspectives are prominent in the engagement process. Please fill out the expression of interest form to do so.
The RMA also encourages all members to complete the online feedback form that will be used to shape recommendations, identify areas of concern, and design future engagement sessions for the healthcare refocus.
At this point, it is unknown whether Alberta Health is planning targeted engagement with municipal stakeholders. The RMA is requesting that this take place and will inform members when any new information is available.
