In their 2016 budget, the Government of Canada committed $50 million to improving asset management capacity for municipalities across Canada. The Government of Canada tasked the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
(FCM) with administering the funding and designing a program that would meet the diverse needs of municipalities across Canada.
After consultations with the Government of Canada and provincial and territorial municipal associations across the country (including the AAMDC), the FCM has released preliminary information on the Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP)
. The MAMP will include multiple components
, including the development of training, resources, information-sharing networks, and direct application-based funding to municipalities to undertake asset management-related projects such as condition assessments, asset inventories, policy/governance development, and more.
MAMP is expected to begin delivering programming and accepting applications in April 2017. The AAMDC will share further details as they become available.
