Feedback sought on Municipal Government Act and Local Authorities Election Act
Municipal Affairs is seeking input on potential changes to the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA). The proposed changes relate to candidate eligibility, codes of conduct for elected officials, privacy of voter information, and third-party advertising rules.
Municipal Affairs is also consulting with the RMA on the proposed changes. Any changes would apply to municipalities in Alberta, along with school divisions and Metis settlements.
The survey is available now, and will be online until July 22, 2022.
