Member Input Requested by July 17 on a Provincial Odour Management Framework

Odours are the most common air quality complaints in Alberta. In response, Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is creating a draft provincial Odour Management Framework with a goal to reduce the frequency, intensity and duration of odour events.

It is anticipated that this framework will build on existing odour management infrastructure used by regulators and industry, and make improvements where necessary. AEP has indicated that the framework would be subject to regular review and renewal to assess effectiveness and allow adaptability to accommodate shifting and new odour management issues.

Any items that are regulated under the Agricultural Operations Practices Act, such as manure management and right to farm, are considered out of scope for this framework development.

AEP has requested input from municipalities to help inform this process. To support this process, AUMA and AAMDC have developed a brief odour management survey to gather input that will be shared with AEP in aggregate.

Share your views on these questions by completing a brief survey by July 17, 2017.
