NRCan Forest Sector provides funding to organizations to help diversify forest products, markets, and processes to support the competitiveness of Canada’s forest sector
The Canadian Forest Service provides grants and contribution funding for wildland fire related activities through two main initiatives: the Fighting and Managing Wildfires in a Changing Climate Program to train and equip firefighters for wildfire response, and the Wildfire Resilient Futures Initiative (WRFI), designed to enhance national wildland fire resilience through three interrelated programs:
- Resilient communities through FireSmart
- Build and mobilize foundational wildland fire knowledge
- Accelerating excellence in wildland fire innovation and resilience
NRCan currently has one open call for applications for a collaborative research stream and a demonstration site stream, which are open to Indigenous organizations, groups and communities; not-for-profit organizations; provincial, territorial, regional and municipal governments and their departments and agencies; Canadian academic institutions and for profit organizations organizations. Visit the NRCan website for more details about these calls for applications.
