The Government of Alberta has begun the process of reviewing municipal costs associated with cannabis legalization. This review was identified as a commitment in the UCP election platform.
The intent of the review is to better understand enforcement (and potentially other) costs incurred by municipal governments as a result of the legalization of recreational cannabis in October 2018. RMA hopes the review will help to inform a fair and consistent provincial-municipal revenue-sharing model for the cannabis excise tax revenues that the Government of Alberta receives (along with all provinces and territories) from the Government of Canada.
This webinar is being hosted jointly by Alberta Municipal Affairs (with support from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General) on Tuesday, October 1 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Please access the webinar via this link during the meeting time to log in.
If you have any questions or if your municipality did not receive a webinar invite, please contact ma.geptbranch@gov.ab.ca.
