Government of Alberta Extends PERC Program Until 2021

PERC provides municipalities with a credit on the education tax portion of uncollectible taxes on oil and gas properties

The Government of Alberta has announced a two-year extension of the Provincial Education Requisition Credit (PERC) program through to the 2021 tax year. PERC provides relief to municipalities through a credit on the education portion of uncollectible taxes on oil and gas properties. Municipalities can now apply for PERC for taxes on eligible properties between the 2015 and 2021 tax years.

More information on PERC, as well as eligibility and application guidelines, are available online here. The next deadline for PERC applications is February 1, 2020.

The Government of Alberta has also announced that they have now consolidated the application process for the PERC program and the Designated Industrial Requisition Credit (DIRC) program into a single application process. The DIRC exemption threshold has also been increased to $1,000.
