FCM Survey on the Towards Parity Initiative Now Available

FCM is engaging municipalities across Canada on the Towards Parity Initiative to encourage women’s involvement in municipal politics

FCM’s Toward Parity in Municipal Politics (TPMP) is an FCM initiative aimed at achieving gender parity in municipal politics (with an initial goal of at least 30% of elected officials being women by 2026) across the country. At this stage of the process, FCM is consulting with municipalities to gather broad input on common barriers and strategies to address them and welcomes diverse perspectives from all genders to provide robust data.

To complement webinar and in-person consultations, FCM is providing opportunity to submit input via three survey options.  The surveys listed below have context-specific questions based on the target group specified noted in the survey title and interested participants can choose the link which they feel responds to their context.

The deadline for survey input is June 1, 2019.

This information will help to develop FCM’s pan-Canadian strategy to address the many barriers faced by women in municipal politics.
