The RMA and ABmunis hosted two webinars to prepare members for the 2024 drought season
The RMA and ABmunis co-hosted two webinars for municipalities to learn and prepare for possible 2024 provincial droughts. The recordings for Preparing Northern Municipalities for Drought and Preparing Southern Municipalities for Drought are now available to view.
Both webinars featured a speaker from Alberta Environment and Protected Areas that gave tips on how to be prepared for drought in your municipality, and what to include in a municipal Drought Management Plan. Each webinar also included a speaker from one rural and one urban municipality, sharing their experience and knowledge in preparing for water shortages.
The RMA would like to thank the following speakers for the rural perspective that they brought to these webinars:
- Cindy Millar, CAO, Northern Sunrise County
- Mike Konowalyk, Director of Operations & Infrastructure, Northern Sunrise County
- Shawn Hathaway, CAO, County of Warner
The webinars for northern municipalities (municipalities north of Red Deer) and southern municipalities (municipalities south of Red Deer) are both online to be viewed.
