The recent municipal election has introduced significant changes to municipal councils across rural Alberta.
As results from the October 20, 2025 municipal election become official, many rural municipalities have experienced significant turnover on council, while others move forward with few changes.
In either case, the municipal election represents democracy in action and allows rural residents to determine the future course of their municipality. Now that this process is concluded for another four years, the focus shifts to new and returning councillors working together, with support from administration, to determine future opportunities, risks and strategic goals for their municipality.
RMA looks forward to supporting this process across rural Alberta and continuing to serve as a source of advocacy and support for members. Whether you are a new or returning councillor, please contact an RMA board member or the advocacy team to better understand how we are working on your collective behalf, and what it means to be a member of RMA.

RMA would also like to sincerely thank those that will move on from council to other pursuits. Each of you contributed to strengthening your communities and rural Alberta as a whole, and your contributions are appreciated.
