The Government of Alberta has announced changes to rules for workplace health and safety committees. Of note for RMA members:
- The number of government-approved mandatory training courses for health and safety committee co-chairs and worker representatives is being reduced from two to one.
- Employers with 20 or more workers across their organization will now only require a single health and safety committee rather than a committee at each work site that has 20 or more workers. This means an RMA member will not require separate committees for each public works yard, gravel pit, etc. if that site has 20 or more workers.
- Employers with five to 19 workers require a single worker health and safety representative.
