Apply for Asset Management Capacity-Building Cohorts and Direct Funding

The Federation of Canadian Municipality (FCM) MAMP program provides multiple ways for municipalities to build their asset management capacity

FCM’s Municipal Asset Management Program (MAMP) provides a variety of funding opportunities to municipalities and partner organizations across Canada to improve asset management practices. Currently, Alberta municipalities are able to apply for two separate opportunities under MAMP:

  • Capacity-building cohorts offered jointly by RMA, AUMA, and IAMA (with financial support from MAMP)
  • Direct funding grants to undertake a specific asset management project

RMA has received multiple inquiries from municipalities seeking clarity as to how the two opportunities relate to one another, and whether applying for both the cohorts and direct funding is permitted. This bulletin is intended to clarify that municipalities are welcome to apply for both the capacity-building cohorts and for direct funding for a local asset management project. Although both are under the MAMP program, the two opportunities are administered separately and applications for each are unrelated. RMA encourages members to apply for both to maximize the value rural municipalities receive from MAMP and to grow Alberta’s municipal asset management capacity.

RMA has published previous bulletins with details on the capacity-building cohorts and the direct funding opportunities that members are encouraged to review.
