Friends of Historical Northern Alberta Society (FHNAS) is here to preserve and promote the history of Alberta.
The idea for FHNAS and the History Check mobile app became a reality on January 12, 2015 when a group of people from various regions came together to discuss different ways in which historic and tourist sites could be shared with the public. The primary goal was to create a website and an app that would show the history and uniqueness of Alberta’s smaller and less known regions, with a goal to promote visitation and engagement in these areas. The History Check app was launched October 4, 2017 and includes over 330 communities and regions, each with their own Community Category Menu that includes:
- Historic sites
- Museums
- Recreation and Parks
- Camping and Lodging
- Attractions and Activities
- Travel Services (e.g. food, washrooms)
