Alberta Environment and Parks is hosting two engagement webinars for municipalities

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is seeking feedback from stakeholders on the second draft of the Code of Practice for Compost Facilities and Acceptable Feedstock List for Compost Facilities. The updated Code for Practice for Compost Facilities is expected to be completed by summer 2021.

AEP is updating the Code of Practice for Compost Facilities to reflect modern composting standards. It also aims to improve environmental protection through enhancing requirements relating to considerations, such as odour management, water resource protection, and setback distances.

AEP is hosting two engagement webinars for municipalities, municipal organizations, and regional waste commissions which will cover the following:

  • Alberta’s composting regulatory framework review
  • Proposed changes to the Code of Practice for Compost Facilities
  • Code of Practice publication timelines and next steps
  • Questions and answers
