Provide input on the status of wolverines in Alberta
The Alberta Conservation Association is developing a State-of-Knowledge Report for the wolverine in Alberta. The purpose of this report is to determine if there is enough information available to update the wolverine’s Alberta Wildlife Status Report assessment. In 2000, the wolverine was assessed as “data deficient” in Alberta.
A data deficient species is one that has been categorized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as offering insufficient information for a proper assessment of conservation status. Identifying a species’ status supports the development of effective conservation methods and helps in understanding the ecological role they play in the environment.
If you have any data relevant to the status of the wolverine in Alberta and the information is not accessible through the Fisheries and Wildlife Management Information System (FWMIS), please email Robin Gutsell at robin.gutsell@gov.ab.ca and CC Sue Peters sue.peters@ab-conservation.com by January 31, 2020.
