Alberta Community Partnership Application Deadline Approaching

Alberta Municipal Affairs is currently accepting applications for various components of the Alberta Community Partnership (ACP) grant. Total ACP funding for 2017/18 is $18.5 million. The ACP components are as follows:

Intermunicipal Collaboration (IC)

  • Provides funding to partnerships of two or more municipalities to develop or expand regional municipal service delivery.
  • The IC component grant criteria has been updated to prioritize the selection of projects that support intermunicipal collaboration framework (ICF) development. This includes projects that directly produce frameworks for regional approaches to service delivery, address outstanding regional service gaps, and resolve capacity-related barriers to build regional service frameworks.
  • Deadline to submit IC applications is January 2, 2018; deadline to submit supporting council resolutions from participating municipalities is February 2, 2018.

Mediation and Cooperative Processes (MCP)

  • Provides funding to municipalities to help develop collaborative protocols and processes to proactively manage conflict, and to enable municipalities to rely on an agreed-upon process for collaboration.
  • Provides funding to support municipalities in using mediation, facilitation, or other dispute resolution alternatives to resolve inter-municipal conflict.
  • A new sub-stream has been added to the MCP component to provide funding to municipalities to help develop collaborative protocols and processes to proactively manage conflict, and to enable municipalities to rely on an agreed-upon process for collaboration.
  • Provides funding to support municipalities in using mediation, facilitation, or other dispute resolution alternatives to resolve inter-municipal conflict.
  • The deadline to submit MCP applications is February 1, 2018.

Municipal Restructuring (MR)

  • Provides funding to municipalities involved with regional governance and municipal restructuring processes such as amalgamation, dissolution, or viability reviews.
  • The deadline to submit MR applications is February 1, 2018.

Applications for ACP grants are accepted through ACP Online, which can be accessed through MA Connect, the external web portal that provides external stakeholders secure access to Municipal Affairs’ key business applications.
