Position Overview
This position reports to the Infrastructure & Utilities Manager (or designate) and plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of the MD’s water and wastewater systems. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, ethical standards, and public health, as the provision of safe drinking water and wastewater services is essential to community well-being. Attention to detail, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills are key to success in this role.
This supervisory role is responsible for:
- Ensuring all terms and conditions of the MD’s licensing requirements are met
- Providing supervision, training, and support to a small team of Utility Operators
- Performing the duties of a Utility Operator II as required
- Managing scheduling for water and wastewater operations staff
- Preparing progress updates and contributing to the annual reporting process
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
- Level I Water Treatment Certification
- Level I Water Distribution Certification
- Wastewater Collection Certification
- Wastewater Treatment Certification
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater operations
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
