Now Hiring: Vegetation Management Technicians (Spray Crew Workers)

Key Responsibilities

Parkland County has temporary, full-time, summer positions available in the Agricultural & Environment Services Department for Vegetation Management Technicians (Spray Crew Workers).  Reporting to the Team Lead, Vegetation Management, these positions support the County’s weed control program by employing integrated pest management techniques to eradicate and/or control noxious weeds on County properties. Successful candidates will perform duties including roadside and subdivision vegetation management using selective herbicides, mechanical or manual applications for weed & brush control, as well as other related duties.  The ability to deal with the public effectively and courteously and maintain accurate reports is required

Requirements

The ideal candidate would have the following:

  • High School Diploma supplemented by current enrollment or completion of post-secondary education in Agriculture or a related field.
  • Valid Alberta Pesticide Applicator’s License or the ability to obtain one.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Upon hire, a current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
  • Ability to safely perform manual labour tasks relating to weed control.
  • Familiarity operating UTVs, power tools, medium duty truck/trailer and GPS/GIS tracking systems.
  • An agricultural background or pesticide application experience would be an asset.

The total rewards package for this position includes:

An hourly rate of pay* of $30.10 (Licensed Applicator) or $27.05 (Unlicensed Applicator) working 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week; May to approximately August 29, 2025.

*Rate of pay reflects 2024 wage.
