Summary

Starland County is seeking a permanent, full time, energetic, qualified Utility Operator I to join our team.

The successful applicant will be required to work a 40 hour work week with some on call duties after regular working hours. The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 – $97,500.00. An excellent benefits package is available.

Key Responsibilities

The job duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

✔ Maintenance, repairs, and installation to water distribution and treatment facilities

✔ Water System Data Collection and Compliance Monitoring including meter reads

✔ Operating equipment including backhoe, excavators, sewer flusher, sewer camera

✔ Use of line locating and detection equipment

✔ Install and repair water/sewer lines and services, meters, pumps, etc.

✔ Maintenance of Irrigation systems and equipment

✔ Data entry for assisting with compilation of monthly and yearly reporting requirements

Requirements

The preferred qualifications for this role are a Level 1 Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection certification. The successful applicant will have a minimum of five (5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Utility Operator must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license with Q (airbrake) endorsement, a Class 3 license is preferred. The successful applicant will be operating a variety of equipment and tools related to maintenance and repair activities, and performing related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have the ability to represent the County in a professional and competent manner. In accordance with our Substance Abuse Prevention Policy, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required prior to commencing employment.
