As the Traffic Signal and Streetlight Electrical Inspector, you’ll play a vital role in keeping Strathcona County’s streets safe and well-lit by overseeing the inspection of traffic signals, streetlights, and other outdoor electrical systems. You’ll also be a key player in gathering crucial data to help manage and maintain the County’s traffic control, lighting, and fibre optic infrastructure assets.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and document inspections of electrical infrastructure such as traffic signals, streetlights and other installations
  • Complete minor corrective actions where inspections have identified deficiencies
  • Assist other internal staff with routine preventative maintenance tasks
  • Compare construction drawings with field infrastructure and document inconsistencies for as-built drawing updates
  • Assist in the collection of asset management information on County owned traffic signal, streetlight and fibre optic infrastructure
  • Assist with the setup and take down of temporary data collection equipment and associated field work
  • Organize and inventory hardware and shop supplies

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician or an Alberta Journeyperson Electrician with 4 years related work experience
    • 4th Year Registered Apprentice Electrician may be considered with 4 years related work experience
  • Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps and civil/electrical drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical report writing and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively manage concurrent priorities
  • Capability to work independently with limited immediate supervision
  • Ability to perform work on written or oral instructions
  • Work in a safety-conscious manner while being familiar with Occupational Health and Safety policies and guidelines
  • Basic computer and software knowledge

Conditions of Employment:

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
