The Town of Morinville is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill a temporary full‐time position of Supervisor, Corporate Communications (term will end on or before May 2023) to coordinate corporate communications strategies and processes.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Legislative Services, the Supervisor, Corporate Communications, leads the development, implementation strategy and execution of communications, marketing and promotional strategies and plans across the organization. This position oversees 1 direct report (Graphic Designer & Content Creator) and is responsible to ensure all activities are aligned with departmental and organizational strategic and business objectives and the delivery of reliable, accurate and timely information to residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop, implement, and oversee communications plans, social media communications plans and relevant policies.
- Lead the Town’s corporate advertising, marketing and promotion campaigns in accordance with the communications plan and strategic priorities.
- Identify communication policy and practice gaps; research and collaborate across the organization to develop practical solutions.
- Manage and collaborate with external contractors who assist with communication requirements including graphic design, video, signage and decaling.
- Lead public engagement communications plans and support all engagement activities for the organization.
- Provide leadership, guidance and performance management activities to the Graphic Designer and Content Creator.
- Lead the production of key publications including the quarterly reviews, annual report, operating budget, capital plan, program guide, and other corporate publications.
- Oversee management of the Town website and social media channels in accordance with the corporate strategic policies, communications plans, and relevant policies, including the Towns Social Media Policy.
- Lead the development and delivery of media releases and messaging to all media for Town events, programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and implement communication strategies for Town projects and events.
- In accordance with the Town’s Emergency Management Plan, assume the role of Information Officer when required.
Requirements:
- A degree in Communications, Public Relations or related discipline.
- Supervisory experience, and experience working closely with various external contractors.
- Clear understanding of the media environment as well as experience and confidence responding to media inquiries.
- Superior writing skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences using a variety of communication methods.
- Working knowledge of graphic design principles and software as well as production and printing practices.
- Experience in drafting, editing, and proofreading corporate communications and marketing materials for publishing and dissemination.
- Experience managing graphic communications and/or directly using graphic design tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) preferred.
- Ability to deliver excellent customer service at all levels of the organization and with external partners.
- Proficient with MS Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, etc.).
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check prior to commencement of employment.
Additional Job Information:
Salary Range: Annual salary range of $76,900—$91,823 (7 Step Grid), based on 35 hours per week.
