Qualifications and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited University or College
- Professional Engineer with 7 years or a Professional Licensee (Engineering) or a Professional Technologist with 9 years of direct experience with facility construction and construction project management is required for this senior-level positions
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Bluebeam Studio. Familiarity with construction software tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), project management software, and scheduling software is required
- Extensive with project management methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Progressive Design Build and Construction Management, and public tendering with projects valued at $25+ million
- Proven experience in managing building construction projects, providing the owner’s leadership of the technical design, engineering consultants and construction management services
- Excellent project and contract management knowledge supplemented with formal training
- Direct working knowledge of various construction delivery methodologies including IPD, “design, bid, build”, “design build” and “construction management”
- Ability to effectively identify issues, clearly explain changes and obtain consensus when a new direction is required to meet the goals of the project
- Ability to quickly gain the respect of all project team members and stakeholders through personal integrity, experience, communication and professional skills. This includes the County’s project working team to the larger design and construction teams
- Working in constrained timeframes, ability to prepare and present reports, briefing documents or presentations for audiences ranging from the project team to Councillors
- In-depth knowledge of Alberta Safety Code, construction and facility terminology and methods and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as it relates to new building construction
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and ensures overall compliance of the design and construction teams to the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and County sustainability standards for new construction
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Willingness and ability to work in inclement weather performing on-site inspections and related duties using mandatory safety devices
- Ability and willingness to work outside regular working hours on occasion
