Seasonal Equipment Operator and Class 1 Truck Driver

Summary

Starland County is seeking a hard-working and reliable individual to join our team as a Seasonal Equipment Operator and Class 1 Truck Driver for our Public Works Department from June to the end of October of 2024. Typical hours of work are Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The expected wage for equipment operator position ranges from $27.35 – $38.01 per hour and $23.40 – $33.14 for the Class 1 Truck Driver position.

Key Responsibilities

Employees are responsible for full cooperation with all aspects of the health and safety program, including compliance with all rules and regulations, and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties. Starland County has a Substance Abuse Prevention Policy in place to reflect our commitment to protect the health and safety of employees, co-workers, the general public and the environment. In accordance with this policy, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required prior to commencing employment.

Requirements

The MINIMUM Requirements for this position are:

  • Possess a valid class 5 Drivers License, Class 3 or 1 is preferred for the equipment
    operator position. Possess a Class 1 Drivers License for the Truck Driver Position
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques
  • Experience operating various pieces of equipment including front-end loaders, dozers,
    graders, scrapers, packers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, or work as part of a team
  • Always demonstrate and execute safe and skillful operation of equipment
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Variable work hours – required to work early mornings and overtime as requested,
    including some weekends
  • Surveying would be an asset
