Now Hiring: Safety Codes Officer II – Building (#25-78) 

Key Responsibilities

Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Safety Codes Officer II – Building position in the Planning & Development Services department.  Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety Codes Services, the Safety Codes Officer II – Building conducts preliminary plan and document reviews, issues building permits, and inspects building construction and mechanical systems for complianceThis position is also responsible for completion of written inspection reports and entering inspection records into the permit and inspection systemAdditionally, this role, acts as the liaison to industry, the public and staff. 

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following: 

  • Post-secondary diploma or trade certificate in Building Construction, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certificate of Competency as a Building Safety Codes Officer Group A, Level 3 and Group B, Level 3.
  • A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in skilled plan review, site inspection, and decision making for applications, with the ability to monitor compliance and rationally issue Orders, Refusals, or Variances.
  • Excellent coordination, work scheduling and time management skills.
  • Written and verbal communication in terminology that can be readily understood by the applicants based on their level of industry knowledge.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer systems and programs such as Microsoft Suite, Outlook, and GIS Software.
  • Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
