Summary

Project & Planning Services (PPS) is a critical function that enables our Business, Innovation and Communication (BIC) department to conduct effective business planning throughout the organization. Success in this role requires strong project management expertise to lead the development, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of Project & Planning Services, including:

  • Project Portfolio Alignment Processes
  • Project Resource Capacity Planning and Allocation
  • Project Portfolio Performance Management
  • Project Standards and Compliance
  • Project Delivery and Support

The Project & Planning Services Lead will develop, implement, lead, and evolve department processes for business planning. These processes will compliment and integrate with project office processes and will provide relevant information to each other, such as the department objectives that would inform the prioritization of project opportunities, or the project performance information that would influence business plans and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Review project requests to obtain better understanding of objectives, desired outcomes or intended benefits, scope, and resource requirements
  • Perform capacity planning, including measurement of total resource capacity, allocated and available resources and capacity forecasting
  • Portfolio management, including the analysis of the portfolio for performance issues or risks, as well as leading processes between department management and project leads to effectively address issues
  • Development of training materials and processes to assess and manage conformance to standards to better ensure consistency in project delivery
  • Plan and facilitate departmental engagement sessions and management team meetings for business planning purposes
  • Support organizational change management functions for Oracle Fusion for planned Oracle Fusion improvements

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, or Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a project manager, focused in technology and/or business process improvement projects
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalencies
  • Experience in business planning, strategic planning, and/or drafting strategic leadership documents would be an asset
  • Experience as a program/portfolio manager would be considered an asset
  • Designation as a Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) would be considered an asset
  • Certification or equivalent training in Organizational Change Management would be considered an asset
  • Ability to exercise both strategic and tactical thinking, judgement, and leadership when leading processes to manage the department’s portfolio of projects
  • Must have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and individuals at all levels
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independence in workload management, exercising critical thinking in the evaluation of priorities, schedules and task dependencies, effort and capacity, to effectively plan and manage workload
