Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the trade and possession of a Parts Technician Journey Person certificate
- Minimum of 5 years fleet maintenance experience
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with fleet maintenance and inventory control systems
- Forklift operation certificate would be considered an asset
- Past municipal experience would be considered an asset
- Ability to communicate and deal with a large user client group, supervisors and the public
- Able to work with minimal supervision, possess leadership abilities, be a self-starter and have strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to support maintenance deadlines of Fleet Services
- Ability to keep track of and follow up on a large quantity of pending and outstanding orders and delivery timelines (e.g. quote status, estimated delivery dates)
- Ability to determine appropriate vendors (e.g. O.E.M. dealers or aftermarket) and communicate detailed parts descriptions, specifications and requirements by telephone/email
- Working knowledge of automotive, truck, bus, heavy duty and agricultural equipment
- Must be aware of WHMIS procedures
