The ideal candidate would have the following:
- At least 18 years of age. Applicants between age 16-17 may be considered in a junior program.
- Live within 8 minutes if you live out east (Acheson or Parkland Village) or 15 minutes if you live out west (Wabamun or Tomahawk) from your nearest Parkland County Fire Station.
- Can meet training requirements of 1 evening per week and several weekends throughout the year.
- Fire services experience is an asset but not a requirement.
- Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (less than 6 demerits) Current driver’s abstract to be included with your application.
- Current clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening must be provided prior to the extension of an offer following the interview process.

The hourly rate of pay will be based on training and supervisory experience.
Parkland County Fire Services offers extensive and comprehensive training for probationary Firefighters (please note, Parkland County Fire Services offers paid training for their Fire Services members). In addition, Paid-On Call Firefighters are provided with Group Accident Insurance, access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and 4% vacation paid out each pay period.
