The County of Newell Municipal Services Department is now accepting applications to join our team as a Mechanic– Full-time Permanent position. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Mechanic will contribute to the goals, values, and success of the County. This position is responsible for all aspects of the preventative maintenance program and the safe operation of the County’s machinery, fleet, and equipment.

Duties include: Performing all repairs and maintenance as assigned, ensuring all operations within the area of responsibility are conducted in compliance with all environmental and governmental legislation, and County approved policies and procedures. Willingness to work, learn, and do tasks as required as part of job expectations.
Applicants must possess the following.
Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Off-road) Certification, Red Seal.
Heavy Equipment Technician-Truck and Transport Certification, Red Seal
Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) Certification.
Valid Class 3 Drivers License with Q endorsement or Class 1 preferred.
The County of Newell offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package. This is a unionized position, and the wage is pursuant to C.U.P.E. contract.
