Manager of Economic Development

The Manager of Economic Development provides strategic advice and leadership to the organization to administer and manage the corporate economic development strategy for Leduc County.

This new position will oversee the development and implementation of Leduc County's economic development programs, strategies, tools and resources and will work directly with Edmonton Global and our regional partners, in addition to working closely with the County's long range planning and development services groups.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Provides strategic advice and leadership, in accordance with Council's Strategic Plan and the Planning & Development department's Business Plan.

Grows the employment base in the Leduc region; including business retention and expansion activities, investment attraction, relationship building within the business community and urban municipalities.

Oversees the development and implementation of Leduc County's economic development programs, strategies, tools and resources.

Works collaboratively within the organization to ensure a customer centric approach by liaising with the Planning & Development department and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

The education required for this position is a degree in business, economic development, urban and regional planning, or an equivalent discipline is required, supplemented with a professional designation in economic development. Five (5) years of relevant experience is required, preferably in a municipal setting.

This position requires strong leadership skills and superior communication, report writing and presentation skills. Proficiency in project management, the ability to synthesize and analyze data, and the use of relevant software, and economic development tools and resources are required. A good understanding and knowledge of municipal government and rural communities is a strong asset.
