Qualifications and Skills
- Licensed Journeyperson and/or Red Seal Heavy Duty On-Road and Off-Road Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician is preferred or registered apprentice
- Consideration may be given to those candidates that possess only their On-Road or Off-Road Journeyperson Certificate
- Experience working on Transit buses (Nova, Alexander Denis, and New Flyer). Coach experience is also beneficial
- Experience working on various types of on-road and off-road equipment
- Basic computer experience
- Thorough knowledge and experience working on various types of on-road and off-road equipment and related equipment repair practices, procedures and preventative maintenance requirements
- Knowledge of current electronic diagnostic programs for chassis and body systems
- Ability to work with a large group and train apprentices with limited supervision
- Ability to perform to written or oral instructions
- Knowledge and experience with working in a Fleet Management Program
- Automotive experience an asset
Conditions of Employment
- Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Q endorsement is preferred
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to achieve Provincial Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) status
- Ability to work a variety of shifts and overtime may be required
- Ability to be on-call (1 week per rotation)
