POSITION DETAILS:

Salary Range: $35.65 – $43.37 per hour
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Hours of Work: Available to work non-regular hours if required, as per section six (6) “Hours of Work” of the Collective Agreement with I.U.O.E. local 955

Key Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain all County vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify and address maintenance needs or potential issues.
Perform preventative maintenance to maximize reliability and reduce downtime.
Prioritize repair and maintenance tasks effectively, adapting to changing operational needs.
Complete assignments with precision and efficiency, managing time to meet deadlines.
Safely operate and demonstrate familiarity with overhead hoists, shop tools, mobile equipment (e.g., loaders, graders), and other machinery.
Perform general servicing of equipment and support other duties as assigned, reporting to the Shop Supervisor for additional instructions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free shop to ensure a safe work environment.

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Journeyman certification in Heavy Duty Equipment required; candidates with a 3rd-year Apprenticeship may be considered.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in heavy-duty mechanical maintenance and repair.
Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License, drivers abstract will be required for successful applicant.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and complete repairs within designated timeframes.
Demonstrate high level of technical knowledge in equipment repair and maintenance.
Highly organized and self-motivated, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and interactions with the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to perform physical tasks and operate heavy machinery safely.
Position may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
