Summary

Operating from the Strathcona County RCMP Detachment, the Guard plays a vital role in overseeing and ensuring the safety and security of detainees during their custody.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Process prisoners upon their arrival including taking photographs, checking personal effects, audit/complete prisoner booking documents, and preparing and serving prisoner meals
Monitor and ensure safety of all prisoners at all times, according to RCMP Policy and Procedures
Maintain and clean the holding cell facilities, equipment and supplies
Create and or maintain found property files including proper storage and disposal according to RCMP policy and procedures
Testify in court on prisoner management when required

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

High School Diploma and 3 years related experience
Familiarity with PROS, PROS access or the ability to learn this software quickly is an asset
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Ability to quickly adapt to any situation and apply good judgment during emergency situations
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle a variety of tasks
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Computer proficiency to work in a networked environment

Conditions of Employment:

Ability to obtain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
Availability to work shift work
Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
