Responsibilities:
- Research, coordinate and analyze financial information to prepare professional documents including reports, presentations, proposals, and correspondence in a timely, accurate and confidential manner while adhering to County standards
- Prepare and present critical information and responses to inquiries to staff across the organization (i.e., topics such as: year-end procedures, audit requirements, changes to accounting standards)
- Investigate any unusual transactions relating to financial reporting by contacting departments and researching any applicable policies and procedures
- Responsible to prepare highly technical expense reimbursement claims for disaster recovery
- Prepare year-end financial statements in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Standards, including the preparation and/or review of financial statement notes
- Create, update, and assist in the preparation of various working papers and year-end schedules
- Review and prepare year-end accounts analyses, reconciliations and working papers of various balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Implement changes required for audit-identified areas of improvement within financial reporting by researching applicable accounting standards, coordinating stakeholders, and developing process improvements
- Compile information and supporting documentation to respond to audit requests during interim and year-end audits
- Act as the main liaison for Council Support staff to provide guidance and coordination of Council expense reporting processes
