Reporting to the Tenant Services Supervisor, the Facility Custodial Contract Inspector plays a key role in ensuring high-quality custodial and pest control services across over 100 County facilities, totaling 2.3 million square feet.

In this dynamic role, you’ll take the lead in developing contract specifications, preparing tender documents, and overseeing the implementation of service agreements. You’ll be the go-to expert for inspecting and managing contracted custodial and pest control services—ensuring compliance with safety standards, service levels, and performance expectations.

As the frontline liaison for county departments, you’ll deliver excellent customer service while providing quality assurance, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and random inspections of custodial services across municipal buildings (offices, libraries, etc.) to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with contract specifications, industry best practices, safety protocols and environmental regulations
  • Evaluate the quality of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, surface sanitization, and restroom maintenance
  • Ensure adequate service levels, especially during special events or peak times
  • Record inspection results, noting areas for improvement or corrective action, and report any deficiencies of contract terms and/or performance levels
  • Work closely with facilities managers, contract administrators, and custodial vendors to share success stories or address performance issues
  • Collaborate with contractors to identify efficiency improvements, assist in resolving any service deficiencies and work with County partners to implement
  • Keep detailed records of inspections, service levels, and contract compliance while also supporting the preparation of audit reports
  • Lead the preparation, review, and refinement of custodial contracts and service-level
  • Agreements, ensuring all contract expectations and performance standards are clearly outlined
  • Contribute to the planning and budgeting of custodial services across municipal properties
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and ensure continuous improvement in custodial service quality by identifying trends and recommending strategies for enhanced service delivery
  • Review and direct the implementation of new techniques (methodology and technology) developed in the industry for more efficient custodial operations
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure service delivery is meeting expectations

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post secondary specialized training or certificate combined with a minimum 4 years of progressive responsible experience in all aspects of custodial/restoration management, contract administration, dispute resolution or property management
  • BOMA or IFMA Certification is an asset
  • Completion or enrolment of related post secondary education in business or facility management such as a BOMI, Real Property Administrator (RPA) or Facility Management Administrator (FMA) designation is an asset
  • Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing multiple facilities for the provision of custodial services, emergency restoration/minor reconstruction and pest control
  • Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Good understanding of computer maintenance management systems, working with Asset Planner is considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/floorplans
  • Ability to work in Microsoft products like Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams

Conditions of Employment:

  • Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Ability to obtain a RCMP Enhanced Reliability Clearance
  • ability to work overtime as required to perform inspections
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
