What is the Opportunity?

We are currently recruiting a permanent full-time Corporate Planning Coordinator.

Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services, the Corporate Planning Coordinator is accountable for the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of City-wide initiatives and projects. This would include the conceptualization, research, and execution of complex, confidential and sensitive assignments.

Key Responsibilities

What will you do?

  • Conduct environmental scans to identify trends and opportunities to ensure relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness of Corporate Services operations
  • Identify strategic issues that may affect the City and provide leadership, research, analysis, monitoring and recommendations on a wide variety of issues, including measure and metrics that align with Corporate Services goals
  • Assist in the delivery of strategic/business planning and strategic issues management, collaborating across the organization to develop and facilitate effective solutions on Corporate Services initiatives, programs and projects, including briefings and presentations
  • Lead the development of process, programs and complex activities across a spectrum of policy planning and business functions such as: business planning, performance measurement and outcomes, budget analysis and project management
  • Support integrated and cross-functional project teams using project management protocols and templates; review and analyze project plans and policies in relation to scope of work and develop and approve project documentation required
  • Research, development of project charters, terms of reference, and business cases; manage contract and project resources associated with assigned deliverables
  • Review Council reports, citizen and council inquiries, briefings and presentations for content and completeness, editing and providing direction to Corporate Services team members and interacting with all levels of the organization and/or external stakeholders
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for information, confidential advice

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

You are an ideal candidate if you have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Public Administration, Political Science or other related fields
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible strategic and project management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of project and change management principles, systems thinking, process development, benchmarking and performance measures, outcomes, and risk management
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment in diverse areas such as political analysis, budget preparations, human resources, communications and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, translate ideas and concepts in effective and efficient strategies, and problem-solve using interest-based approaches
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with all levels within the organization, including senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks independently with a high level of initiative
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, ), as well as the ability to learn and adapt to evolving technology
