Contract Fitness Instructor

Summary

This posting is for multiple, part-time contract positions 

The Adult Programming team is currently seeking instructors specific to fitness programs for participants with chronic conditions to be added to our contact list and fill vacant daytime positions for the Summer/Fall 2024 sessions. Once an instructor is added to our contact list they will be notified of all future instructing opportunities throughout the year.

Conditions of Employment

  • Submission of current Standard  First Aid and CPR C Certification

Key Responsibilities

As a Contract Fitness Instructor, you will have the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality fitness classes for up to 20 participants in a safe and positive environment this may include individual wellness centre programs, group-based programs, and water based programs
  • Supervise participants and develop class plans with progressions and adaptations based on abilities
  • Collaborate and positively interact with the Adult Programming Team
  • Equipment management including setup/takedown of program area

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Positive, proven leadership and team-building skills
  • Proven ability to maintain high standards of safety, quality and cooperation
  • Proven time management skills and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and demands
  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Recreation, Physical Education, Kinesiology
  • Successful completion of CSEP-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) certification
  • Experience working with participants with chronic conditions
  • Minimum of 2 years experience
  • Aqua-fitness certification (Fitness Alberta, WaterART)
